S-S-S & M-M-M

Today my friend Chris came over and I made him a gimp mask for a performance piece he is involved in this Friday. The performance is inspired by a Japanese game-show, the aim of which is not to laugh. If a contestant laughs they will be punished by being whipped on the bottom by The Punisher (played by Chris). More information about the show can be found here.

MY YARDSALE BRINGS ALL THE BOYZ TO THE YARD

Yep, that's right folks, another one. In this installment of Yard Sale: A New Hope, I still continue to amass large amounts of clothing and various other stuff and hope that with a new location and new housemates on my side some of it may just disappear and hopefully turn into $$$.

More details on the facebook event

Come hang out anyway these things always end up turning into dress-ups and dancing in the street and maybe some beers and wines.

Revolution NOT Evolution

Ok so on the off chance anybody still checks this given it hasn't been updated since '08 I wanted to let y'all know that I'm back on the blog wagon. A lot has happened over the past year and a bit and I took a bit of a break but I'm finally starting to get back into the swing of things.

I'll dwell on the past later but for now let's focus on the immediate future. That being this Saturday at the Builder's Arms on Gertrude Street. I'll be the back up DJ'n for my palz Sam & Keirice's band, Camp Camp Revolution. There'll be choreography and leopard print lycra and basically a chance for you all to see me make a bigger fool of myself than I already do in my day to day life. We play at 9, plus we three be DJ'n between bands aaaall niiiight loooong, hope to see y'all there.

"I loved that phrase you used, it was very clever... 'Revolution not Evolution'"
"No, it was the opposite. "Evolution not Revolution"
"Well, whatever. Because that is me. I 'evolve' but I don't...'revolve'...or vice versa."

Today has been ok

It's Cup day which I had completely forgot about, so that was kind of vile because the trains were filled with deranged orange creatures with dead birds on their heads. The city was very peaceful though due to the lack of the aforementioned.

I went to Borders to look at magazines and as I was flicking through Culture I saw some familiar looking PVC and realised that that it was an article about the Wella Trendvision Australia finals that Mike Adler a stylist had borrowed a pair of my holographic pvc leggings and pvc cat suit for. The pictures aren't very big and you can barely see the cat suit but y'know...cheap thrills..

Speaking of which, highlight number two was going to Savers and finding a really beautiful micro pleated black top and then looking at the label and discovering it was ISSEY MIYAKE(for $4.99!!!!)!! If the original owner would be so kind as to cut out the middle man and simply give me their wardrobe I'd be a very happy girl indeed.

...but I digress...

The issue of Fashion Journal that I assisted styling the feature shoot came out last week and we finally got a stack in Kids in Berlin the other day. It was raining, a fitting end to my last shift, but it also resulted in the Fashion Journals being used as a makeshift umbrella so in the end all I was left with were the relevant pages scrunched up in my folio. The shoot was more fun than the photos let on.

The interview I did for melbournestreetfashion.com went up last week. It's horribly embarrassing and I'm pretty badly misquoted and taken out of context and photos were used that I was assured wouldn't be. I suppose it is a lesson learnt, though. Next time I need to go against my nature and be more assertive about what I want/am comfortable with. I guess I just wanted to put that out there because I don't think I'm as big of an idiot as I may seem(...well, most of the time anyway)

Well, I best be off as I've got to get up bright and early tomorrow to start my new job. Here's hoping all goes well.

Step On...

I'm still ironing out all the finer points but from pretty much now onwards the label I was previously operating under "SERENA van der WOODSEN" is no more and I'll now work under my own name, Charlotte Webb.

When I originally chose the name Serena van der Woodsen in late 2007 it was meerly meant to be an alias from under which I could sell the leggings, bike shorts and scrunchies I'd begun making. At the time Gossip Girl was only really known about in Australia by the 13-year-old girls that had read the books (which I had always been repelled by in book stores...) and those like myself that had been introduced to it on youtube by friends who were more knowledgeable about US pay TV. So for quite a few months it was a fairly safe working title but as the show came out on Foxtel here and I have started gaining small bits of exposure here in various things. Although I'm sure the big wigs over at CW network have much more important things to worry about than some minute label on the other side of the world that they've most definately never heard of. However, even the possibility of being sued really isn't really my idea of a good time so I figure it's better to be safe than sorry.

There are a few things in that are coming up that will still have the name SERENA van der WOODSEN but I'll be letting you know more about those as they appear.

In the meantime, I have entered the General Pants Bubble Competition and I need all the help I can get so it would be much appreciated if you could help a sista out and vote for me.
Its not exactly something you'd pop down to the supermarket in but maybe if you lived on Venus in the seventies...

I'll post some more pictures from the ecclectic evening that was Fashion Aid soon as well.
